7-1-1

The 7-1-1 Method: A Simple Way to Align Your Big Vision with Daily Action

If you have big goals but feel overwhelmed by where to begin, the 7-1-1 Method helps turn distant dreams into clear, focused, and actionable steps.

Here’s how it works:

  • 7-Year Vision — Where you’re headed

  • 1-Year Goal — What you want to achieve in the next 12 months

  • 1-Month Action Plan — What you’re committing to right now

Your 7-Year Vision: Get Clear on What You’re Building

This is where you zoom way out. Picture your life seven years from now—how do you want to feel, move, live, and show up?

Think about your health, relationships, career, finances, environment, and energy. Don’t get stuck in the “how.” Just imagine what aligned looks like.

Example:

“I run a business I love, my body feels strong and energized, I live somewhere that inspires me, I have freedom in my schedule, and I’m surrounded by people who get me.”

  • Business goal

  • Home goal

  • Family goal

Your 1-Year Goal: Bridge the Gap

Break it down, what’s one meaningful outcome you can work toward over the next 12 months that moves you closer to that 7-year vision?

This goal should challenge you but still feel within reach. It’s your next big step.

Examples:

  • Build a consistent fitness routine and get out of pain

  • Grow your side hustle to a full-time income

  • Create more space in your life (physically, emotionally, or energetically)

  • Prioritize yourself consistently and without guilt

The goal here is focus. Just one. It’ll guide your decisions all year long.

Your 1-Month Plan: Start Where You Are

This is where things get practical. What can you commit to in the next 30 days that moves you toward your 1-year goal?

Think: action over perfection. What’s one area where you can show up with more intention?

Examples:

  • Strength train 3x/week

  • Launch your first offer

  • Meal prep on Sundays

  • Set (and stick to) screen time boundaries

  • Book a therapy or coaching session

It doesn’t have to be flashy—just consistent and aligned.

Why the 7-1-1 Method Works

Because it keeps you connected to your why and focused on your now. You stop spinning your wheels and start building a life that actually feels good.

  • You’re not doing random workouts—you’re training for a life you want to live

  • You’re not chasing every opportunity—you’re moving toward what actually matters

  • You’re not trying to overhaul everything—you’re building momentum one step at a time

Results:

What’s wild is that I did this a year ago and completely forgot about it. When I checked back in on my goals a year later, I realized I had accomplished everything I set for that month and the entire year. I even crossed one big thing off my seven-year plan! Now that I know setting intentions works—even on a subconscious level—I’m making a conscious effort to set and hit my monthly goals to stay aligned with my bigger annual vision. Do you have to look at your goals every day? Nope. If it’s something you truly want, you’ll naturally start making decisions—big and small—that move you closer to it.

Want to Try It? Start Here:

Ask yourself:

  • 7-Year Vision: What does my future life look and feel like?

  • 1-Year Goal: What’s one big thing I want to accomplish this year that supports that vision?

  • 1-Month Plan: What’s one thing I’ll commit to this month to get started?
